Morning Music – The Day After

tracy chapman, morning music, new beginning, paul richardson blog

FROM THE ARCHIVES: This song was my Morning Music selection on November 5, 2008 – the day after Barack Obama was elected President. I live-blogged that Election Night a few blocks away from Grant Park where the President-Elect first addressed the country in Chicago.

I published the song then with a feeling of profound Hope. It fits today, oddly, for entirely different reasons.

The world is broken into fragments and pieces
That once were joined together in a unified whole
But now too many stand alone There’s too much separation
We can resolve to come together in the new beginning
