Food With Thought: Animal Cracker Sprinkle Cookies

animal cookies, sprinkles, paul richardson blog

As I baked these cookies, I thought…

Does a writer need a reader to call himself an author? Does something cooked need to be eaten to have a chef? Must a painting be viewed to be a painting at all? Books on art, philosophy, and the meaning of life have long answers to these questions — ancient Greek thinkers discussed it ad nauseum.

Does one thing need another to be itself? Does black need white to be black? Does a sound need an ear?

If a tree falls…

On the writing question, I think the answer is Yes. A writer needs a reader to be an author, like a sound needs an ear. The ear makes the sound. A reader makes an author. This distinguishes AI text from a human author. But locked in solitary confinement, the writer himself can be the necessary reader. Just as I write these words, perhaps read by no one except future Paul, I like to think I become an author.

HERE is the recipe I used, using chocolate instead of white chips.
