We’re watching all the Bond films, in order. Bang Bang! We started on January 26, 2026. There’s no schedule (life is unpredictable), so I wonder how long it will take to get to them all.
This post will constantly update – Rankings are subject to change at any second. All lists are entirely subjective and based on gut reactions – those invisible feeling that pop up unbidden from one’s soul.
Away we go…
Sean Connery (& Lazenby):
1) Goldfinger – 1964 (1/27) – Iconic. It hooked me with the first gold painted victim.
2) Dr. No – 1962 (1/26) – It’s all established. And I love a villain with metal hands.
3) From Russia with Love – 1963 (1/26) – Bonus points for evil Rosa Klebb & killer shoes.
4) Diamonds are Forever – 1971 (2/5) – Only because of multiple versions of supervillain Blofeld.
5) You Only Live Twice – 1967 (2/3) – Yikes. Cool evil volcano bunker. But Yikes.
6) Thunderball – 1965 (1/31) – Too much underwater swimming for me. Was waiting for Creature from Black Lagoon to show up.
7) On Her Majesty’s Secret Service – 1969 (2/4) – Lazenby’s one. Couldn’t get myself to care about the mission or him. Only Diana Rigg is worthwhile.
Roger Moore:
1) The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) (2/9) – Entirely because of Jaws & the Pyramid scenes
2) Live and Let Die – 1973 (2/6) – Moore works for me (unlike Lazenby). And I love the occult vibes.
3) The Man with the Golden Gun (1974) (2/7) – Not bad. Christopher Lee is creepy.
4) Octopussy (1983 (2/17) – Fun gang of warrior women, elephants, and deadly 8 slimy legs.
4) Moonraker (1979) (2/15) – Jaws is only thing memorable besides Anaconda attack.
6) For Your Eyes Only (1981) (2/16) – Completely forgettable skiing Bond.
BONUS: Why not – Let’s rank the Bond songs. I’m curious what my future self will think about these picks.
1) Goldfinger – Obviously. So catchy. I feel like I’m slinking inside the 1960s when I hear it.
2) Live and Let Die – This is a song I knew well even before realized it was Bond based.
3) You Only Live Twice – This one gets stuck in my head. A winner.
4) Thunderball – Solid. Can feel Tom Jones manliness as he says “thunderBAAAAAALLLL.”
5) Diamonds are Forever – I found myself singing the chorus, so it must have some pizazz.
6)Nobody Does it Better (Spy Who Loved Me) – Carly Simon keeps it very 70s. But these are the style of Bond songs that I love.
7) For Your Eyes Only – It grew on me. And I prefer song titles that match the film name.
8) Moonraker – So-so, but at least it’s Shirley Bassey’s voice.
9) From Russia with Love – Eh, its OK.
10) All the Time in the World – Louis Armstrong’s voice is great, but feels so out of place.
11) Octopussy – Not for me. The movie is better than the song.
12) Lulu (Golden Gun)– Forgettable.
13) Dr. No – No song.
The first ever Bond girl, Honey Ryder, walks out of the ocean in her first scene. Played by Ursua Andress this white bikini look defined 1960s glamor. (and was referenced in The Blue Book: Welcome to Willouby)
She could have passed for either the villain or seductress in a spy movie.
“I was a wonderful Bond woman once.” She read his mind, and Jacob knew the river must be real.
“Not on screen, of course. But I do pass for the first queen bee from that first movie, Mr. No Way. I think her name was Ursula and she rose from the ocean. Or maybe it was Honey Writer.
