Whatever You Do, Do It a Lot – For Itself

inspiration, kurt vonnegut, why, writing life

Do you every get the pang – Why? Why am I doing any of this? What on earth is the point?

Do you write, or paint, or build, or race, or read, or compete, or do something that you compare to other people? Why? Why did I write this very post?

When no good answers follow that pang, I become a student again and remember this famous Vonnegut advice to high schoolers…

Practice any art…no matter how badly.
Not to get money and fame
But to experience becoming
To find out what’s inside you

Do it for the rest of your life

So for humanity’s sake
Whatever you do
Do it a lot and never stop
Believe in yourself no matter what
And when you’re at the top
Enjoy the view
Dear every single person, ever
I think I love you
